Hi, I’m Alejandra Brown

I have over 15 years of experience in fundraising, working directly with development teams, executive directors, and institutional partners. My focus has been on strengthening donor relationships, improving retention, and building stewardship strategies across annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and legacy programs.

My academic and professional training is grounded in philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, and global affairs. I hold a Master’s degree in International Affairs from American University, with a focus on Global Governance, Politics, and Security. I also hold a Master’s degree in Fundraising from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and a Master’s in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from ESADE Business School.

In addition, I have completed certifications in Corporate Social Responsibility (American University), Fundraising and Social Marketing (American College), Global Displacement and Migration (Georgetown University), and Leadership, Organizing, and Action (Harvard Kennedy School). I am currently pursuing the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) designation from The American College of Financial Services.

I’ve worked closely with nonprofits across the DMV region, and I understand the realities of donor engagement in both small teams and complex institutions. My approach is grounded in practical fundraising—what actually drives long-term donor commitment, not just one-time gifts.
